Make the Sign of the Cross and say, “Bless me Father for I have sinned. My last confession was <how long> ago. These are my sins: <state sins simply>.”
Say “For these and all my sins, I am truly sorry”.
Listen to the penance.

O my God, I am heartily sorry
for having offended Thee, and I
detest all my sins because of thy
just punishments, but most of all
because they offend Thee, my God,
who art all good and deserving of
all my love. I firmly resolve with the
help of Thy grace to sin no more
and to avoid the near occasion of
sin. Amen.
The priest will offer the prayer of absolution, forgiving your sins.
Respond to the priest’s dismissal (e.g., “Go in peace”) with “Thanks be to God”.
